Dear Members and Supporters,
As the cricket season draws to a close, I’d like to take this opportunity to reflect on what has been another proud year at Leeds and Broomfield Cricket Club.
First and foremost, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our incredible committee. Their tireless work behind the scenes ensures the smooth running of our club. From administration to planning and everything in between, their efforts often go unnoticed, but they are the backbone of what we achieve together.
Looking ahead, our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held at The George Inn at 7pm on Friday 24th January 2025. I encourage as many of you as possible to attend—it’s a great opportunity to have your say and help shape the future of the club.
As always, the more hands, the lighter the work! If you have some time and would like to get involved in any aspect of the club—whether that’s helping with the junior section, lending a hand on match days, or supporting our off-field activities—please do get in touch. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference.
This year, we’ve made significant progress on the next steps for our new pavilion, securing planning permission. Early in the new year, we’ll be moving forward with building regulation drawings, allowing us to determine the cost and take the next big step in our fundraising journey. It’s an exciting project that will benefit the club for generations to come.
On the field, I’d like to congratulate everyone involved in securing our Championship status, a key milestone in our goal to cement Leeds and Broomfield as one of Kent’s top 20 clubs. This achievement, along with more success from our Third XI and a solid season from our Second XI demonstrates the strength on the field.
Our junior section continues to be a source of immense pride. The brilliant performances of our teams, especially the ever-growing girls’ section, are a testament to the dedication of our coaches and volunteers. Thank you for your commitment to nurturing the next generation of cricketers and instilling our ethos from a young age.
Finally, as we look towards 2025, I’m delighted to confirm that Cricket Week will take place from 23rd to 29th June. It promises to be another fantastic celebration of cricket and community, and I hope you’ll all join us in making it a success.
Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year. Here’s to a fantastic 2025 at Leeds and Broomfield Cricket Club!
Warm regards,
Chris Davis
