Dear Members,
You may have seen a Social Media Post alerting you to some issues that our Cricket Director, Shane Martin has been experiencing which is taking a toll on him.
As Cricket Director, Shane is the key decision maker for on-field Cricket related matters. Shane has been instrumental in the position the club finds itself in and this is demonstrated through strong numbers across juniors and seniors, our retention rates and the transition of juniors into senior players.
Shane endeavours to make decisions that are in the best interest of the club, that may mean that some decisions may not be in the best interest of an individual, but they should be respected.
Volunteers are integral to community sporting clubs and without them they simply wouldn't exist. I urge everyone to self-reflect on how you treat volunteers who are ultimately doing their best in providing an environment for all to enjoy. We appreciate that the vast majority of our members do the right thing.
As volunteers, we don't expect everyone to agree with every decision we make, however we do expect our volunteers to be treated with respect. I remind everyone that your actions and words can have a strong impact on an individuals mental health and with that I inform our members that Shane Martin will be taking a few weeks off to re-energise and focus on himself.
Whilst we are aware that it's within Shane's role to discuss issues with members, I implore people to think about the way they approach subjects and discussions and realise that we are only interested in doing what's best for the club.
Until further notice,, please reach out to Mitchell Quinn for all on-field senior cricket related matters and all other club related matters direct to parahillscc.secretary@gmail.com.
